Acie Lumumba dates gospel musician Ivy Kombo
THE Lumumba Files, which has since been revamped to #TLF Drive and well-marketed to a wider audience of Zimbabweans beyond politics, has grown steadily to become the main feature of many Zimbabweans’ to-watch list on Sunday nights.
Social media influencer Acie Lumumba, working with fellow influencer and branding strategist Kuda Musasiwa, have delivered a product that is strong in both the guest list as well as superb visuals. The two are a classic example to Zimbabweans on how to harness one’s social media presence into something of value.
#TLF Drive has also marketed itself well into the corporate sector, attracting leading Zimbabwean brands such as Premier Auto Services and Chicken Inn, among others, into the fold.
The last episode featured Tendai “Beast” Mtawarira, a Zimbabwe-born athlete who plays for the Sharks in Super Rugby and in the Currie Cup and represents the South Africa rugby national team, the Springboks. The fact that the 33-year-old Zimbabwe-born “Beast”, as he is affectionately known, will equal former Springbok captain Adriaan Strauss as the most-capped South African in Super Rugby history when the Sharks take on the Bulls in Durban today, shows the dizzy levels to which Acie Lumumba and his team have grown their social media following into a product many professional and corporates would want to associate with.
The next episode, set for this Sunday, features gospel music diva Ivy Kombo-Kasi.
Kombo returned home last week after a long time in the UK, and her return is set to ignite the local gospel music scene with what she calls a “big” gospel concert: Nguva Yakwana.
“We are back home to organise a big function that will remind people of the good old days. Nguva Yakwana was a popular brand and we need to bring it back. We are working on the groundwork to bring back the festival.
2019 seems to have started well for Acie Lumumba and his production team. His show has improved from the “political gossip” chat it used to be, to a brand that many individuals and corporates would not shy away from partnering with.
