THE ZANU-PF legislator for Lupane East Member, Hon. Sithembile Gumbo has died.

She was 56.

Matabeleland North Provincial Administrator Ms Latiso Dlamini confirmed receiving news about her passing on.

Gumbo died Monday evening at a local hospital where she was receiving treatment after being involved in an accident about two weeks ago.

She won the 2019 elections by polling 7875 votes against her closest rival, Khumalo Dalumuzi of the MDC Alliance by over 2000 votes after he polled 5791 votes. A by-election will be called to fill the seat.

Gumbo started off as ZANU-PF District Chairman from 1995 to 1999. Between 2000 to 2003 she was Provincial Secretary for Legal Affairs in Matebeleland North.

She subsequently served as Provincial Secretary for Disabled from 2003 to 2008, and as Provincial Secretary for Administration Women’s League up to date.
