PICTURES: Zifa rejected this locally designed kit in favour of Umbro
The Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) has finally launched the much-awaited Umbro kit.
However, a snap survey on social media shows that the Umbro kit has received at best a lukewarm reception from the Warriors fans.
A local designer has released photos of the kit he took to Zifa but was rejected well before the association went and engaged British sportswear maker Umbro.
We publish below the local kit which was rejected.
Some fans are of the opinion that the local kit looks much better than the Umbro kit.
There are also reservations over the Umbro replica jersey prices, which Zifa saying fans will part with US$38 for a set.
Another issue raised by fans is that the fans’ jersey is different from the team players’ jersey, with some saying there is nowhere in the world that fans’ jerseys are different from players’ jerseys.
Some are of the opinion that the initial Umbro kit which the fans rejected earlier in March has just been returned as the fans’ jersey.
