PICS: MDC Congress kicks off in Gweru
The MDC is holding its fifth national elective congress in Gweru, and the much-awaited event runs until Sunday.
In a statement, party president Nelson Chamisa party has reveled itinerary for the elective event.
“Gweru is lit and painted MDC red…the colour of love, freedom and people power. I love the mood and atmosphere.
“Democracy never fails. Expecting a revolutionary @HEBobiwine of Uganda as one of the special guests from the African continent,” an elated Chamisa revealed.
“The host province, Midlands has engaged a high gear as all roads lead to Gweru tomorrow for the MDC historic Congress at Ascot Stadium which will define a new course for Zimbabwe,” said Dr Takavafira Zhou, the party’s Secretary for Information and Publicity in Midlands Province.
“The 24th will see the arrival and conduction of youths and women wings Congress. Official opening on Saturday 8. 30am while delegates would go into various thematic committees for robust debate with the report backs penciled at 2pm.”
“The big day is Sunday 26th when Congress delegates would elect members of the standing committee tasked with leading and walking a paradigm shift in the course of Zimbabwean history, in our struggle for a better life for Zimbabweans and indeed in the triumph of democracy, liberty and freedom,” said Dr Zhou.
