Egypt coach says he’ll use home advantage against Zimbabwe
Egypt head coach Javier Aguirre says he will use home advantage as his side faces Zimbabwe Warriors in the AFCON 2019 opener against Zimbabwe on Friday, 21 June.
“We will need to make the most of their home advantage,” the former Mexico head coach told AfricanFootball. “This will put us under pressure and we will have to be fully focused on taking our chances.”
Aguirre says he has studied their group rivals as he looks to guide the Pharaohs to a record-extending eighth AFCON title.
“The three teams are similar to a big extent in terms of organization. They have pace which they perfectly use to hit their opponents on the break,” Aguirre said.
“You [the fans] have a big role to play to help us win the trophy. Don’t waste this chance,” he concluded.
The Pharaohs won the title the last time they hosted the tournament in 2006.
The Pharaohs will play in Group A along with Zimbabwe, Uganda and DR Congo.
