The situation has moved to another level: Chamisa meets SB Moyo
MDC leader Nelson Chamisa attended a ceremony hosted by the UK Embassy in Harare to mark the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II.
“The situation has moved yet to another level,” says Chamisa, borrowing from the infamous words of Foreign Affairs and International Trade minister Sibusiso Business Moyo which he uttered during that November 2017 coup that removed former President Robert Mugabe from power.
The ceremony was hosted by the British Ambassador to Zimbabwe Her Excellency Melanie Robinson, and attended by invited special guests.
Chamisa reportedly used his encounter with SB Moyo to push for dialogue with President Emerson Mnangagwa.
The ruling Zanu-PF party insists that the legitimacy of their leader is not in question.
Also present at the ceremony were senior government officials as well as members of the diplomatic community and the civic society.
The Queen has already celebrated her 93rd birthday this year, but she will not officially turn 93 until 8 June.
That’s because the Queen has two birthdays each year.
One – her real one – on 21 April, as she was born on 21 April 1926.
Then a second one – the public celebration – on the second Saturday of June.
