Cabinet raises maize prices
THE Cabinet has resolved to pay maize farmers US$242 per tonne at the prevailing interbank rate which translates to RTGS 1400 per tonne.
According to Agrinews, this is an upward review from the RTGS726 announced a few weeks back.
Meanwhile, the tobacco planting season has also delayed as there was a standoff between the government and farmers over the pricing of the golden leaf.
The government later announced that it would be giving farmers 50% of their proceeds in foreign currency.
