Amapiano Queen Sha-Sha says she was supposed to be a nurse

Musician Sha-Sha born Charmaine Mapimbiro says she grew up wanting to be a nurse but people around her and the love for music made her pursue a career in the music industry.

She is currently rocking the airwaves across the Limpopo and neighboring countries with her new album Blossom and her collaborations with ace producers DJ Maphorisa and Kabza de Small have earned her the moniker Queen of Amapiano a genre that is currently warming the dance floors in Mzansi.

 “I was suppose to be a nurse but people around me believed in me, recognized the talent in me and was introduced to Audius Mtawarira who became my mentor,” said Shasha.

“Music has always been around me and I was never attentive and I never thought I was going to take it seriously but when I saw what it did to people that’s when I started to take it more seriously”.

The Mutare raised music star released some songs in Zimbabwe before crossing the Limpopo into South Africa in search of greener pastures. She says he was introduced to DJ Maphorisa by her cab driver and the rest is history.

She says her collaboration with top South African music star Samthing Soweto, and Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa on the single Akulaleki was her major breakthrough on the music scene.

“People have heard me from other songs that I did previously but Akulaleki was definitely the song that put on the world map,” said Sha-Sha.

The hit single Akulaleki reached number one on Apple Music. Sha-Sha says she is excited that her album “Blossom” is doing well on charts in South Africa.

“The album is right now number one in South Africa and people are really vibing with it. Its really overwhelming, its nerve wrecking, I was used to being behind the scenes but now I am on television and doing live shows and people now recognize me and “Blossom” has done the most,” said Sha-Sha.  

Her hit single Akulaleki has gone platinum after selling more than 40 000 while Ngithanda Wena with Mlindo the vocalist had gone gold after selling more than 20 000 copies.

She says should would want to leave a legacy and become a household name in the music industry.

With her latest album topping the charts its definite that Sha-Sha is here to stay and she will continue churning out hits.
